For patients who deal with real dental anxiety, or for longer procedures, oral conscious sedation combines a prescription medication with nitrous oxide to bring on a deeply relaxed, twilight-like state. Because it leaves you drowsy afterward, you'll need someone to drive you to and from the appointment. Many patients barely remember the visit at all.
